Patient Participation Group

Quote / Testimonial:
We would like to know how we can improve our service to you and how you perceive the Practice and our staff.

To help us with this, we have set up a Patient Participation Group so that you can have your say. We will ask the members of this group some questions from time to time, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you have received. We will contact you via email and keep our surveys succinct so it shouldn’t take too much of your time.

We aim to gather around a hundred patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long-term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups.

What is the Patient Participation Group or PPG?

A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of people who are patients of the surgery and want to help it work as well as it can for patients, doctors and staff. The PPG is a group of volunteer patients  and staff who come together to discuss the health services at the practice and see how improvements can be made to benefit patients, carers and the Practice.

Since 2015 The NHS requires every practice to have a PPG. The PPG is not a forum which deals with individual medical matters or complaints. The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is open to any patient who is registered with ourselves.  We welcome all communities, genders, ages, ethnicities and disabilities.

Why should I join?

As a registered patient of the surgery, your experiences matter and you can bring different ideas to the surgery to help us treat patients better or to improve what we do in some way. You will also gain a better understanding of the NHS, and gather feedback from other patients.

How often does the PPG meet?

We meet at the surgery, but not too often. We know that you are busy, so we meet only a few times per year and hope that you can join us. The chair-person of the group will communicate meeting dates to you.

Will my views be heard?

Your views are important and will be listened to. It may not be possible to act on every suggestion, but all feedback is very valuable. Working in a spirit of mutual respect, openness and trust, all patients’ views will be discussed and, where appropriate, we will work together on solutions.
